A private place to write

Write first. Choose what happens next.

Everything you write is private the moment you write it, and stays that way unless you decide otherwise. What happens next is always yours to choose — and you don't have to decide anything to start.

  • Locked on your device
  • No name needed
  • Works with no signal
A quiet room at night: one lamp, an open notebook, and a door that only opens from the inside.

What is true here

Private is the default, not a setting.

Every one of these is how the software is built, not something we promise to keep doing.

  • No name, no email

There is nothing to give us — not a name, not an address, not a phone number. We would rather not know.

  • Locked before it leaves the page

Your words are encrypted on your own device, with a key only you hold.

  • We can't read your private writing

Not because we promise not to. Because we don't have the key, and neither does anyone who takes our servers or asks us for it.

  • Works with no signal

On a train, in a basement, on a phone with no credit. Writing never waits for a network.

  • Yours to take or erase

Take a copy of everything whenever you like, or delete all of it. No reason needed, and nothing to cancel.

How it works

Three steps, and the third one is just coming back.

  1. Make your space

One tap. Your phone asks for the fingerprint, face or PIN you already use — or you pick a phrase, if it cannot.

  2. Write freely

A blank page and nothing else. It saves as you go, on your device, and nothing goes anywhere unless you send it.

  3. Decide, or don't

Keep it, take a copy, or erase it. Leaving it exactly where it is counts as a choice too.

Why people come here

Some things need saying before they need solving.

  • For the things you cannot say out loud yet.
  • For working out what you actually think.
  • For putting something down so it stops going round.
  • For a place where nothing is expected of you.

One honest thing

We're not a crisis service. Because we can't see what you write, we won't know if you're struggling, and we can't call anyone for you. If you're in danger right now, please reach someone who can be there — a person you trust, or your local emergency number.

Whenever you are ready.

It takes about a minute, and there is nothing to fill in.
